Clyde Halemaumau "Kindy" Sproat (1930-2008)

Hawaii's national treasure, falsetto singer, musician, and storyteller Clyde Halemaumau "Kindy" Sproat passed away at age 78 on Monday, December 15, 2008. He made one of his last public appearances at the 17th Annual Clyde "Kindy" Sproat Falsetto Singing and Storytelling Contest in September of 2008.

  • Retired after a 20 career in the U.S. Air Force
  • In 1988 he received the National Heritage Fellowship Award from the U.S. National Endowment for the Arts.
