  • Began studying Shito Ryo Karate at age 10 and became a national champion

  • Before he began his solo career he performed with the group Hui Aloha, the group Na Oiwi, and with his father, the Reverend Dennis Kamakahi.
  • His 2004 album "Paani" won the 2005 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Contemporary Album released in 2004
  • Received a Liberal Arts degree from Leeward Community College in 2005
  • David and his father performed the song "Always" in the 2005 Walt Disney animated film "Lilo and Stitch 2".
