  • Amy Hanaialii is the granddaughter of choreographer Jennie Hanaialii Napua Woodd who worked on many of the Hawaii-related films of the 1930s and 1940s. Amy's grandfather is trumpet player Lloyd B. Gilliom.

Amy performed with Willie Kahaialii (Willie K) in the 1990s, and they were a hugely success duo. They broke up both personally and professionally in 2001 and Amy returned to performing solo, recording on her own label called Hanaialii. She toured with Willie K again in 2003 and they recorded another album together that was nominated for the first Hawaiian music Grammy award.
