Hula Festivals and Contests in Hawaii, California, Japan
Information about the Merrie Monarch Festival on Hawaii Island, the Prince Lot Hula Festival on Oahu Island, the George Naope Kane Hula Festival featuring only male dancers, the E Huloa Mau competition in Southern California, the King Kamehameha Hula Competiton in Honolulu and Tokyo, and other hula festivals and competitions around the world.

2008 Wine Country Ukulele Festival
The first annual Wine Country Ukulele Festival will be held in Northern California's Napa Valley October 9-11, 2008. Performers and instructors will include Herb Ohta, Jr., Keoki Kahumoku, Robyn Mehealani, James Hill, Ralph Shaw, and others.

  • Oct 10: St. Helena Farmer's Market Ukulele Show (9-11 am)
  • Oct 10: Cooking Wtih Keoki Kahumoku (1-4 pm)
  • Oct 10: Dining and Dancing Under the Stars (6:30 pm)
  • Oct 11: Free performances and fee-based workshops at Napa Valley College (9 am to 5 pm)

    New Southern California Hawaiian Falsetto Festival
    The first annual Aloha Falsetto Festival of Southern California will take take place Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm, at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Southern California. Featured entertainers will include Raiatea Helm, Gary Haleamau, Steven Espaniola, Ryan Souza, Jeff Peterson, Abraham Lagrimas, Jr, and Hoku Zuttermeister, who swept the Na Hoku Hanohano Award in 2008 by winning Best Album, Best Hawaiian Album, Best Male Vocalist, Best Hawaiian Language Performance, Best Liner Notes, and Most Promising New Artist Awards.     The first Hawaiian Music Grammy Award was issued in 2005 but several Hawaii-based organizations have been honoring Hawaiian music artists, producers, and albums for many years. Here are Hawaiian music award winners from the past 30 years. Includes all of winners of the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, the Hawaii Music Awards, the Hawaiian Music Grammy, the Ka Leo Hano Awards, Kauai's Maile Awards, and inductees into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame.
