The new Waikiki Beach Walk resort area on the Ala Moana end of Waikiki has three free Hawaiian music series in the summer of 2008: (1) a big-name performer concert every two months called called "Na Mele No Na Pua", (2) a weekly Sunday afternoon Hawaiian music concert series called "Sunday Showcase", and (3) a weekly Tuesday afternoon hula performance series called "Ku Haaheo: To Cherish With Pride".

In June of 2008 a new Web site called Hawaiian Music History was created because the Hawaiian music section of the Hawaii for Visitors Web site was growing larger then the travel information section. The new Web site has information about Hawaiian music artists, awards, concerts, festivals, contests, forums, organizations, radio stations, recordings, shops, songs, venues, books, videos, and Web sites. The site also has special sections for hula, slack key guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar, and ukulele.
